Restored Portrait of My Two Older Brothers
Through a very generous offer that I learned about through Photojojo, ScanCafe restored this old 1950's portrait of my brothers for free. The service was fast (considering the huge response) and I'm very pleased with the result.
ScanCafe handscans negatives, photos, and slides, in addition to their photo restoration services. I've been wanting to scan my old carousels of slides, and this just may be the answer to who's going to tackle that task. Thank you, ScanCafe and Photojojo!

Summer Ragamuffins, 1956
Here is a portrait of my cousin Sandy, me, and my brothers Gary and John, taken during the summer of 1956 at my Aunt Margaret and Uncle Pete's farm in Muncie, Indiana.
Sadly, my beautiful cousin died of a brain tumor at age twenty, nine years after this picture was taken. She was like the big sister I never had in my life and she was taken much too early.

Cape Cod, Summer of 1969
I wasn't at Woodstock that summer, but I was on Cape Cod--first for a family visit with my aunt and uncle, and then to work a summer job between my freshman and sophomore years in college.
Here I am with two of my brothers, one of my sisters, and a cousin who is now gone, off to spend the day at Hardings Beach in Chatham. Halcyon days....

Easter Morning in the Mid-1950's
My two older brothers and I with our Easter baskets. The Easter Bunny--er, my Dad--is snoozing through it all.... The photo was taken by my Mom.
Happy Easter!

Christmas Morning Circa 1955
My two older brothers and I on Christmas morning circa 1955.... I'm holding my new Ginny bride doll. That same year, I believe, my brother on the left got a great Lionel train set, and my brother on the right got a Howdy-Doody marionette.
Following a German tradition from my Dad's family, we would put our shoes out on Saint Nicholas Eve (December 5th), and receive treats of chocolate and little trinkets. As we grew older, this tradition faded, but I remember that it was magical in my early childhood.
Happy Saint Nicholas Day!
