In My Parents' Garden

In My Parents' Garden (11), originally uploaded by confections.

I am grieving the loss of my Mother this past Valentine's Day and finding solace in images of the cottage garden she and my father created. These photos were taken circa 1987, four years before my father died.

Angel Trumpet (Brugmansia) in Alcazar Garden, Balboa Park, San Diego,

My sister and I had lunch together on Monday and then visited the spectacular spring display in the Alcazar Garden in Balboa Park, San Diego, California.

The delphinium, foxglove, and lavender were resplendent and these glowing angel trumpets were eye-catching as well. While we were there, the carillon chimed six o'clock--a haunting sound that I recorded.

Hope you are enjoying the bursts of color everywhere this spring!

Collage of Hydrangea & Salvia

Collage of Hydrangea & Salvia, originally uploaded by confections.

This grouping of hydrangea and salvia graces my front porch these days. I must admit that I don't have a green thumb (my sisters got that gene), but I do my best to honor the seasons and am a great aficionado of gardens of all kinds.

My sister went to the local farmer's market yesterday for fresh blooms to bless her home. Our youngest sister and her middle daughter are coming for a week-long visit on Friday and we are rolling out the red carpet.HydrangeaSalvia
