Tap Along with My Favorite Tap Dance Guru--Eli Newsom

My sister and I have been taking tap dance classes through San Diego Civic Dance Arts in Balboa Park with the very talented Leslie Padilla for close to a year now. In between those classes, we enjoy working with the DVD's produced by the equally awesome Eli Newsom of "Tap
Dance Made Easy". Eli has podcasts as well as DVD's and usually every month there is a freebie sample to tap along with. Here is one of my recent favorites. Have fun!

Artichoke Bloom

Artichoke Bloom, originally uploaded by confections.

On my walk last week I came upon this artichoke plant in bloom. My sister and I saw it again on Father's Day (June 21st) and most of its glory was spent. The ephemeral nature of spring blossoms....

Robin's Egg Blue Manual Typewriter by Remington

I found this beauty back in March at a local Salvation Army Thrift Store. She needs a bit of work (the platen seems to be stuck), but I'm sure I can get her back into working condition. The base of the typewriter forms the bottom of the carrying case.

There's nothing like an old writing machine like this to motivate me to continue editing my Great American Novel!

Latest Fabric Stash Acquisitions

My sister and I visited two of our favorite quilt fabric stores on Saturday and this is the partial result. My sister's goodies are not in this stack....

The fat quarters are so tempting. There is a bundle of fat eighths here, too. The William Morris Workshop packet of squares is destined to become medium-sized yo-yo's.

My Blythe dolls will probably get a few new dresses from this stash as well. Lucky girls!

Isadora Reiko's New Curls Revealed

Here is my Frosty Frock Blythe doll (Isadora Reiko) with her new curly head, following the boil perm make-over. I think she looks great. Her hair appears much shorter, but it is just because of the curling effect
--no trimming took place!

Waiting for Her Hair to Dry (2)

I decided to take Isadora Reiko (Frosty Frock Blythe doll) to the spa to have her hair done in a boil perm. It's a strange ritual involving nearly boiling water that Blythe doll aficionados engage in to tame the tresses of their girls and to add curl or soft waves.

Here she is post-boil-perm, waiting for her hair to dry. I'll have "after" photos tomorrow.
